Free Email and DNS Tools
Plain-English guides to checking your domain's email setup, each pointing to a trustworthy free checker and explaining exactly what the result means.
SPF Checker
Check which servers are authorised to send mail for your domain. An SPF record tells receiving servers which IPs are allowed to send as your domain. Use MXToolbox SPF Lookup (mxtoolbox.com/spf.aspx) — enter your domain and verify the record lists your mail server. A missing or incorrect SPF record is the most common cause of business email landing in spam.
DKIM Checker
Verify your domain's DKIM signing key is published correctly. DKIM adds a cryptographic signature to outgoing mail. Use MXToolbox DKIM Lookup (mxtoolbox.com/dkim.aspx) — you will need your domain and DKIM selector (your email provider can tell you this). A valid result means your outgoing mail carries a verifiable signature.
DMARC Checker
Check your DMARC policy and what it tells receiving servers to do with unauthenticated mail. Use MXToolbox DMARC Lookup (mxtoolbox.com/dmarc.aspx) — enter your domain. Look at the policy (p=none, p=quarantine, p=reject) to understand how aggressively unauthenticated mail is handled.
MX Lookup
See which mail servers are set to receive mail for your domain. Use MXToolbox MX Lookup (mxtoolbox.com/MXLookup.aspx) — enter your domain. The result shows which servers receive your email and their priority. If your MX records are wrong, you will not receive mail.
DNS Lookup
Look up any DNS record type for a domain — A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, MX and more. Use MXToolbox DNS Lookup (mxtoolbox.com/DNSLookup.aspx) or Google Admin Toolbox Dig (toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/dig/). Useful for verifying any DNS change you have made.
Email Header Analyzer
Read a message's raw headers to trace its path and authentication results. Use MXToolbox Header Analyzer (mxtoolbox.com/EmailHeaders.aspx) — paste the full email headers from a message. The tool breaks down SPF, DKIM and DMARC results, delivery path and any delays.
Blacklist Checker
Check whether your sending IP or domain is on a spam blocklist. Use MXToolbox Blacklist Check (mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx) — enter your mail server IP or domain. Being on a blacklist means some recipients will not receive your email. If you are listed, the tool shows which lists and how to request removal.
Domain Health Checker
A broad check across MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC at once. Use MXToolbox Domain Health (mxtoolbox.com/domain/) — enter your domain for a comprehensive report covering all the checks above in one view.
Why these matter
Most "why is my email going to spam" problems trace back to one of these records being missing, misconfigured, or never checked after the initial setup. These guides show you exactly what to look for — and Droppoint sets all of this up correctly for you automatically if you would rather not manage it by hand.
